Culture is also present in the area. There are monumental areas worth visiting, along with other attractions: the Wildlife Museum offers a comprehensive view of the animal world, and the Iron and Mining Museum of León provides insight into this land's close relationship with mining.
You can also visit the Valporquero Cave for a journey to the earth's core, or the unique natural enclave, the Pinar de Lillo, with its ancient fir trees.

Festivals and traditions

Summer festivals

Throughout the summer, especially in August, all the local towns hold festivals honoring various local patrons. Festivals in Boñar, Puebla de Lillo, and even in Pallide in honor of their patron Santiago are bustling events where you can still experience traditional activities such as Leonese Wrestling or Leonese Bowling.
If you are looking for traditional fun with bars and music, these festivals usually go on until late at night.

Gastronomy

Gastronomy is one of the cornerstones of the local culture. You will find restaurants and small bars serving exquisite traditional dishes. Hearty winter meals, succulent meats and sausages, and fresh garden dishes. The Morcilla de León, cecina, Botillo del Bierzo, Cocido Maragato, Olla berciana, and trout are among the highlights you can savor.
